Bucharest inhabitants and especially those who love snow, have real concern reasons after the Institute of Food Research announced that the snow contains several heavy metals, Antena 3 informs.
Lead, nitrates and nitrites. This is what the snow in the Capital contains, according to the researchers. This is all the more concerning as the quantities can seriously harm the health of the inhabitants, if the snow is ingested .
According to the specialists, the substances can influence people’s health several decades from now on. The most concerning alarm signal is yet the presence of DDT in the snow in Bucharest, a pesticide forbidden 20 years ago.
Some ecological organizations say that DDT reached the Capital once the roof of a warehouse stocking this substance was taken off. The warehouse is located on Transilvania motorway. The dangerous substance entered the water table and then the rivers. The water raised these substances in the air through evaporation and they were brought into the cities through precipitation.

The situation is far from being simple as the cleaning companies had no idea about this danger, this is why in many situations the snow was amassed and thrown in the gardens of the blocks of flats, in the parks, in the vicinity of the populated areas, hoping that it will melt faster....or it was thrown in Dambovita river. This happened unofficially, because officially the snow is deposited on dedicated spaces, no one has heard of, of course.
“According to the legislation the snow on the public roads can only be deposited on the authorized spaces, that is in the waste dump. If the City Hall creates a suitable space, a special dump for snow then it will receive an environment authorization for that location, not otherwise. The illegal deposit of the snow on the ground is punished with a 60,000 RON fine. If somebody is caught throwing the snow into the water, in this case in Dâmboviţa river, they committ a criminal act, which is sentenced with 6 months to 3 years in jail”, stated for Libertatea, Silvian Ionescu, general commissioner of the Environment Guard.
All types of waste in Bucharest, including snow, can only be thrown in the authorized dumps, not on the field, on the land plots, in the rivers etc. Bucharest City Hall, the sector halls and the cleaning firms infringed the Environment law and those who signed decision regarding the deposits of toxic snow in Bucharest risk between 6 moths and 3 years in jail.

Bucurestenii si in special iubitorii zapezii au adevarate motive de ingrijorare dupa ce Institutul de Cercetări Alimentare a anuntat ca in compozitia zapezii se gasesc mai multe metale grele informeaza Antena 3.
Plumb, nitraţi şi nitriţi. Asta conţine zăpada din Capitală, potrivit cercetătorilor .Acest lucru este cu atât mai îngrijorător, cu cât cantităţile înregistrate pot afect grav sănătatea bucureştenilor, dacă zăpada este ingerată.
Potrivit specialiştilor, substanţele pot influenţa sănătatea oamenilor mai mulţi zeci de ani de acum înainte. Cel mai îngrijorător semnal de alarmă este, însă, prezenţa DDT-ului în zăpada din Capitală, un pesticid interzis în urmă cu 20 de ani.
Unele organizaţii ecologiste susţin că DDT-ul ar fi ajuns în Capitală odată cu decopertarea unui depozit cu această substanţă, pe traseul autostrăzii Transilvania. Substanţa nocivă ar fi intrat în pânza freatică, iar de acolo, în râuri. Prin evaporare, apa a ridicat aceste substanţe în aer, fiind aduse în oraş de precipitaţii.

Situatia nu este nici pe departe simpla deoarece societatile de salubritate habar n-au avut de acest pericol, motiv pentru care zapada in multe situatii a fost stransa si aruncata in gradinile blocurilor, in parcuri, in vecinatatea zonelor populate, in speranta ca aceasta se va topi cat mai repede sau ... in Dambovita. Asta neoficial, pentru ca oficial ea a fost depozitata pe spatii amenajate, de care bineinteles nu a auzit nimeni.
“Conform legislaţiei, zăpada de pe drumurile publice nu se poate depozita decât pe spaţiile autorizate în acest sens, adică la groapa de gunoi. Dacă Municipalitatea creează un spaţiu adecvat, respectiv o groapă specială pentru zăpadă, cu fundul impermeabil, atunci va primi aviz de mediu pe acea locaţie. Altfel, nu. Depozitarea ilegală a zăpezii pe pământ se sancţionează cu amendă de 60.000 de lei. Dacă cineva este prins că aruncă zăpada în ape curgătoare, în cazul nostru în Dâmboviţa, se consideră că a săvârşit o infracţiune care se pedepseşte cu închisoarea de la 6 luni la 3 ani”, a declarat pentru Libertatea, Silvian Ionescu, comisar general al Gărzii de Mediu
Pe scurt, deşeurile de orice fel din Bucureşti, inclusiv zăpada amestecată cu substanţe antiderapante, se aruncă doar la gropile de gunoi autorizate. Nu pe câmp, pe terenuri virane, în râuri etc. Adică Primăria Capitalei, primăriile de sector şi firmele de salubrizare au încălcat Legea mediului, iar cei care au semnat decizii în privinţa depozitelor de zăpadă toxică din Bucureşti riscă între 6 luni şi 3 ani de puşcărie.
